Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
